Weeks 1&2

The past two weeks in EDCI336 have been introductory classes. I chose my free inquiry project (making loom band animals) and learned about privacy and consent in the classroom. We got some good resources in the form of the online platform BlueSky, a space similar to Twitter/X that has pages just for educators to connect. I set up this blog as well! At first, it was a struggle to navigate, but I finally figured out how to customize everything and make my first post. It will definitely take some time to get used to, but I feel good about using it so far!

We also watched a great documentary, Most Likely to Succeed, which really got me thinking about different ways to educate and learn. It was interesting to see how the school “status quo” doesn’t work for some kids. It’s important to remember this when teaching in a regular public school that not all kids learn the same, so integrating different ways to demonstrate learning, experience learning, and assess is so crucial. I will 100% be implementing some of the practices from the documentary in my future classes.
